Take the Chloe Pink Pledge with Pete & me

Stand on your right foot and hold your left hand up with a cupcake on your head and repeat after me.

"I promise to do stuff that makes me happy, to always be kind to others including boys, girls, animals, ladybugs and the earth, to be curious about everything and to always follow my dreams."

(See. That wasn't hard! XO, Chloe Pink)

It's not the destination that matters.....

Follow your dreams, girl and don't forget! It helps to have a real friend to support you along the way. I know, because I have Pete! He believes in me no matter what. He goes with me no matter where I want to go. He likes me for who I am. Everybody needs at least someone like him in their corner....or in this case, my bicycle basket! Thanks Pete! Hang on. Here we go! XO, Chloe Pink

Chloe Pink™ brings colorful self confidence to girls on Cyber Monday.

Hey Mom. Hey Dad. What's the best gift you can give your daughter? A Barbie doll in a bikini? A deluxe make-up kit? A leopard print mini-skirt in bright pink?

As you cyber space out today, why not consider some gifts for your daughter that encourage her athleticism, her moxie, her artistic talent, her creative flair, her ear for music...You know. Her individuality -- Not her sexuality. Like say for instance, a tennis racquet? Ballet lessons? An easel from the local craft store? A flute or violin? Or even The Chloe Pink Doodle & Dream Coloring Book that helps her apply color to her own drawings and not her face. And sends her the message that she is valued as a PERSON -- you know, a human BEING --not as a primped up girly girl who's worth is primarily measured by her falsified looks. As my dad, John Fulton, reminded me the other day, Chloe Pink™ is a natural teacher of girls. And where she aims to lead your daughter is to the undeniable fact that: SHE is valuable. SHE is loved. And SHE has all the tools and unique abilities and character traits to make a rich, meaningful life for herself. And it's okay to put her own goals and dreams first. It's never too early and never too late. The five star (highest rating on Amazon.com) Chloe Pink Doodle & Dream Coloring Book is all about letting a girl express her own individuality through page after page of doodle spaces, pictures to color and fill in the blank pages. As Emily Yewell Volin, Teaching Artist and Choreographer, who empowers people through dance suggests in her review, don't just buy one, buy 3 or 8...as dreams evolve and dreams change! The book is available on Amazon.com or you can email sharna.fulton@att.net for your signed copy. And help your daughter follow HER dreams. At just 7.95 plus shipping, you might even be able to stuff in some crayons and ballet shoes and a can of tennis balls in her stocking, too.

A sneak peek. Chloe Pink™ Mini's are here.

Great big fun things often come in small teeny tiny packages. Hershey's kisses. Shiny little bubble gum machine rings. And now Chloe Pink™ Mini's.

What exactly is a "Chloe Pink™ Mini" you ask?

It's a petite little 12 page book that fits in the palm of your hand. (3 1/4" x 4 1/4") It's a wee bit quirky story about Chloe Pink following her dreams and other good stuff like that. It's something to make you happy for only two dollars and fifty cents. And makes a great little gift, too for that special girl you want to treat to a "pep-talk-on-paper" surprise!

Each one is made from 100% original art by Sharna Fulton and printed in color on heavy card stock. We're talking the heavy stuff, too. No lame, flimsy card stock here for us, girls. Not us. Then, we package it in cellophane wrap with a pink lollipop. Tres' sweet.

10 reasons why every girl should do art

1) If you are sad, the arts can take you away to a happy place. Don't ask me how. They just do. Pick up a sketchbook and start drawing a cartoon about your feelings next time you're blue. You'll see what I mean.
2) The arts let you get out of your "box." That box is the "normal you" or the expectation others have of you and who you should be. For instance, did you know that many actresses and comics and musicians are actually shy? You would never know it once they get on stage!
3) The arts are fun. It's fun to dip a paint brush in red paint. It's fun to strum a guitar. It's fun to learn a new dance step.
4) The arts allow you to create something from nothing, which is just about one of the best feelings in the world.
5) The arts let you express your ideas and feelings which is quite healthy and therapeutic.
6) The arts let you be you!
7) The arts are a way to grow as an individual. The more you express yourself through the arts, the more you come to understand yourself and appreciate your strengths and abilities.
8) The arts are something you can do alone and are a better use of your time than watching TV. Although, believe me. I do watch TV--but I try to keep a sketchbook and a pencil near the couch.
9) The arts are a great way to meet other unique friends who enjoy doing art too. Most of my friends and associates have a passion for the arts in their own way. They are writers, dancers, art educators, actors, etc. They make my life interesting and I learn cool stuff from them.
10) The arts allow you to create and contribute to the world right now.

Who knows? You could be the next big ballerina or painter or musician or actress or....But if you never take ballet, pick up a paint brush, try to write a short story, compose a song or play the piano, you'll never know. And even if you're not a famous artist, you're still going to have a lot of fun. I promise. And so does Chloe Pink!

Grown-ups need to grow-down

I wanted to write something deep to go with this cartoon. But then I realized, that was the grown-up in me trying to suck all the fun out of it. And I just want to be a kid. What makes you feel young at heart? Whatever it is, do it!

A Revolutionary Day for Chloe Pink

Thank you to the Walton County Chapter of DAR (Daughters of the Revolution) for having me speak at their April meeting at Monroe Golf & Country Club this week.

The event had been on the books since last August when I received a call from Suzanne Roberts, Chairman of DAR. (Shown left next to her friend and fellow DAR member, Airey.)

Suzanne had read an article in the Walton Tribune about the launch of The Chloe Pink Doodle & Dream Coloring Book. (So thank you ace reporter, Sharon Swanepoel for writing this article which led Suzanne straight to Chloe Pink!) After all, what an honor to be asked to do my first Chloe Pink speech.

As it turns out, Suzanne is an accomplished pianist who performs as the church musician at Bethel Baptist in Good Hope, GA. A scholarship music graduate of the the University of Kentucky, she also teaches. And so I'm thinking about signing Chloe Pink up for a few lessons. Hmmm...

Many of DAR's members are descendants of the founders of Monroe and served in the Civil War . One member, Dotty Zazworsky, oversees The William Harris Homestead, an award-winning Georgia landmark in Monroe, GA. The Homestead offers school field trips, tours and special events and is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. All of DAR's members have ancestors, such as John Harris, who fought in the Revolutionary War.

And so it seemed fitting on this sunny Tuesday afternoon at 11:30 to talk about Chloe Pink's own "revolution." (The one to get girls to reach for their own independence by following their dreams.)

After my address, "the Daughters" invited me to join them for lunch while signing books and learning a little bit of their own personal histories. Frankly, it was too little time to hear from these strong and independent women who run historic estates, perform masterfully on the piano, etc. Almost everyone shared a tidbit with me about their granddaughter(s) and then purchased a copy or two of The Chloe Pink Doodle & Dream Coloring Book to give them.

Long live the Daughters of the Revolution. Follow your dreams, girls!

I declare Monday is PINK day!

Actually, Peeblet, declared it. She's good like that. Great idea, Peeblet! Keep 'em coming.

So yeah..Today kicks off PINK day as part of my new weekly blog editorial calendar. That sounds sorta official and buttoned up and all that, doesn't it? Yeah..so anyways..from now on, every Monday, come see me and I'll tell you about something pink that is tres bonbon (very sweet!)

Today's PINK tip is the new Birthday Cake Lollipop I just discovered at one of mine and Pete's favorite cafes. It's called Starbucks. Ever heard of it?

But don't let the name of it fool ya. It doesn't have to be your birthday to enjoy it. In fact, treat yourself to one whenever you want to be as happy as you are on your birthday. Why that could be any day at all! Right?

Anyways, Starbucks calls this cute little cake sucker on a stick a "Petite." Maybe because they're just as pretty as a French petit four. (Translation: small oven. So evidently these "petites" are not only incredibly delicious, making them is a real space saver as well.)

Other Petites at Starbucks include Rocky Road (shown) and Tiramisu lollipops. They each cost 1.50, but are two for 2.50. Plus there's a red velvet whoopie pie, salted caramel square, mini cupcakes and more -- all made with premium ingredients and fewer than 200 calories. Which means that, mom, if you're counting calories, you can still have your cake and eat it too. Bah dum bah!

Only now, it's round like your world, delectably dipped in dainty pink frosting with cute little white sprinkles on top. And I don't have to remind you how I feel about sprinkles. Do I?
